
It’s a struggle to get a mechanical patent. In the good old days (see above graph), you wrote a patent, you filed a patent, and with maybe one or two rejections from the patent examiner, you got a patent. Not true these days. Today, you write the patent, you file the patent and then you go back and forth with the examiner until you either manage to convince she or he you deserve your patent, or you simply give up trying. It can be a long and expensive process.
